My family recently acquired this and another photo from a family friend. We hadn’t ever seen these photos despite their being several decades old. My mom said she would like to have the photo of our family up in their home somewhere and I immediately thought of the Sea la Vie collection and how perfect it would be with this photo on a decorated frame.
I looked through my craft stash and found an old wooden frame (source unknown) and began the process of decorating it. First I chose the wooden plank paper from the 12×12 paper pad and traced, cut and glued it onto the wooden frame. Next I very lightly stamped a fish net background stamp from Hero Arts on the top right and bottom left corners. I followed the stamping with a stencil from Stampers Anonymous and Tim Holtz called Scales. I used Vicki Boutin’s CreativeFX glaze in Silver through the stencil on the same corners as the stamping. This gave a shimmery mermaid feel that I love.
Once I had the base of the frame prepared I began adding the Sea la Vie elements. I used several pieces from the Ephemera Bits & Pieces pack as well as several from the cut apart page on the back of the cover to the 12×12 Paper Pad. I LOVE that P13 adds these cut aparts to the back side of the front and back covers of their paper pads. What a great use of that space! I grouped these elements on the two corners and added in some white thread from my sewing stash, a few pieces of the Light Chipboard Embellishments and a title from the Ephemera Frames & Words pack.
As soon as everything was in position exactly where I wanted it and affixed to the frame, I added gray pearls from my craft stash to the centers of the big flowers and a few Nuvo drops around the frame and it was finished! I put the photo in and am thrilled with the end result. I am very excited to present this to my mom so that she and my dad can have this great photo of our family displayed in their home. The Sea la Vie collection is so beautiful with it, I can’t wait to create my next project using this collection! Thank you for looking and I hope you are enjoying creating your own beautiful things.
