Moikka! It’s Riikka here with my first guest post. I’m so excited for this opportunity so thank you for having me! For this first post I worked with the beautiful spring-like collection Awakening. I really like the pastel tones of it and the subtle patterns.
I decided to use a picture I took some years ago during Easter time. I think we just had had coffee and were clearing the table when my older daughter wanted to show something from her new mobile phone. It’s just a snap shot of something almost everyday, but I’ve kept it in my “scrap these” pile.
When I saw the flag shaped tags in the collection, I immediately thought about building a banner with them. After giving the background some mixed media touches, that was the first element I created for the page. I thread the tags to a piece of twine and then attached it running across the 12×12 sheet.
I love to include mediums in my makes. To me the creating is at least as much about the process than the ready layout or other project. I’m happiest when I can combine my love for getting my hands in paints and inks to beautiful papers and products. So, the first thing I did in this page was to add some gesso on it. Stamping, coloring with water-soluble oil pastels and stenciling then followed. If you want to see how I made the page, please see the video I recorded while working.
Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope you like the project and find inspiration from it! I’ll see you again next month in this blog! In the meanwhile, if you want to take a look what I’m up to, please check out my personal blog or Instagram! Ta ta for now!
